William Huntington's Obituary
William Hamilton Huntington, 75, passed away on December 22, 2012. He graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor of Architecture from Auburn University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He completed Navy OCS in 1961 and served in the United States Navy as Lieutenant, J.G., and Admiral’s aide at Subic Bay. He worked as an architect at Memphis firms including Gasner Nathan Browne and BWB, where he was a partner. He retired from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1995. William was a talented artist in a variety of media, particularly watercolor. Ever inquisitive, he loved learning and had a gift for engaging both friends and strangers in conversation and storytelling. He was dedicated to environmentalism and the prevention of heart disease, and he was an avid member of the Mended Hearts Support Group for 28 years. William is survived by his wife, Maria Julia Huntington; daughters, Julia and Christina; sister, Mary Frances; and many nieces and nephews. A mass will be held on 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment will be held at a later date in the Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorial gifts may be sent to the American Heart Association.
