William Arthur Higgins, Sr.'s Obituary
William Arthur Higgins, Sr., 76, of Hernando, Mississippi went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 2, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Florence Higgins. Mr. Higgins grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Philippines and Hawaii. He retired from the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. Mr. Higgins was a member of DeSoto Hills Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family, reading his Bible, and home devotionals. Mr. Higgins is survived by his cherished wife of 34 years, Peggy Hughes Higgins; five children, including Bill Higgins, Jr. (Tina) of Dunedin, Florida; Krista Duffee (Mike) of Arlington, Tennessee; Dana Barton (Mike) and Melaina Hughes of Hernando; and Chuck Hughes (Teri) of Sherwood, Arkansas. He also leaves two grandsons, Luke Barton and Nathan Hughes. Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. The family will receive visitors from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, followed by a graveside service at 2:30 in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
