William "Bill" A. Harris Jr.'s Obituary
William Andrew Harris Jr (Bill), died peacefully at the Memphis Jewish Home facility in Cordova, TN on Saturday May 27th at the age of 90.
Bill is survived by his children Steven (Caroline) Harris of The Villages, FL; Joyce (Bobby) Jones of Broken Arrow, OK; and David (Savanna) Harris of Olive Branch, MS. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Sarah Woods (Jonathan), Jonathan Jones (Mandy), Ben Jones (Heather), Michael Jones (Abby), and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Beth, his parents Will Sr. and Cornelia Stewart Harris Vincent, and his sister Jane Smith.
Bill was born on February 10, 1933 in Humboldt, TN. He married Martha Elizabeth (Beth) Eoff on February 25, 1955 and they remained married until her death in 2021. Bill was a long time Pharmacist in the Memphis area. He opened Harris Pharmacy, in Bartlett in 1975. He and Beth worked side by side until they sold their business. In retirement Bill stayed active as a fill in Pharmacist.
Bill will be remembered as a faithful Christian, serving on church committees, as a Deacon, and as a Sunday School teacher. Bill served in the U.S. Army and as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He was a long time member of Germantown Baptist Church and most recently a member of Collierville Bible Church.
A funeral is scheduled for Thursday June 1st, 11:00 a.m, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue Memphis TN. Pastor Nick Brown will officiate the ceremony. The family would like to thank the staff and dedicated caregivers at the Memphis Jewish Home in Cordova for their exemplary care for Bill and thank the members of Collierville Bible Church for their love and concern for Bill and for Beth in their later years.
