William Martin Gurley's Obituary
William Martin Gurley went to be with his Lord on March 18, 2009. He was the embodiment of the American dream, rising from a humble beginning to found several businesses that grew to large corporations of which led him to establish a private foundation, Baptist Missions, Inc. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Leesburg, FL and attended the Covenant Baptist Church in Collierville, TN.William was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bougeno Gurley, his grandson, David Martin Gurley, two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Hull Gurley and their daughters, Cheryl Followell and her husband Robert, Connie Brandenburg and her husband George, Larry Martin Gurley and his wife Jo Anna, Sarah Brown and her husband Steve, Richard Cole, six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.Many have benefited from the generosity of Baptist Missions, Inc. and he will be greatly missed.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the Mid-American Theological Seminary at 2095 Appling Road in Cordova, TN 38016.
