William Edward Gerber's Obituary
William Edward Gerber, died on March 17th, 2018. He was the son of Elizabeth Banks Gerber and William Edward Gerber. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ellen Gerber Henderson. He leaves his wife, Betty Jo Pepin Gerber, a daughter, Dione McGehee (Stuart) and a granddaughter, Kaila Henderson, brother-in-law, John Pepin (Joyce), sister-in-law, Helene Pepin, nieces, Laura Melton (Brent) and Lynn Guyton (Bryan), great-nephews, Braedon Melton, Bryce Melton, Brody Melton, Marshall Guyton and Curry Guyton. Bill attended Pentecost-Garrison School and graduated from the Hill School in Pottsdown, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Mississippi where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Business Administration and later served in the Army Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. He established Gerber Realty Company, a commercial and industrial real estate company that developed shopping centers and industrial properties in Memphis and the surrounding areas. Bill was a member of Lamba Alpha, Tennessee Real Estate Commission, Memphis Association of Realtors and Society of Industrial Realtors. A member of the Memphis Country Club, he particularly enjoyed Friday lunches with friends and Saturday morning golf games. He was also a member of the Highlands Falls Country Club in Highlands, North Carolina. Among his other interests were; flying, boating and skeet shooting. A memorial service will be held in the Rotunda at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis, on Wednesday, March 21st at 11:30am with a reception to immediately follow at the family home. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
