William "Bill" Fones' Obituary
With love & remembrance we honor the life of William (Bill) Fones who went to his heavenly home on November 20th.
Born in Texarkana Arkansas and raised in Memphis, Bill was a graduate of the University of Memphis. He was one of the original Day 1 FedEx Employees and proud member of the FedEx family, devoting an incredible 51 years to the company. As part of the Airworthiness Directives Control Group, he took immense pride in his work.
His passion for aviation extended far beyond his career. Bill earned his private pilot’s license at the age of 18; later earning his commercial license, flying jump planes for sky divers. His love for airplanes and the skies was an enduring part of his life.
An adventurer at heart, Bill embraced life to the fullest. He was an avid sky diver, skier, scuba diver, Harley Davidson rider and road trip enthusiast.
Bill learned the art of beekeeping from his father. The preservation of the pollinators was deeply rooted in his upbringing. Preserving the habitats of the bees, Monarch butterflies and Blue Birds was a lifelong passion that was very close to his heart.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Henry Nelson Fones & Anne Ragan Fones.
Bill is survived by his wife, Natalie Fones, sister Linnie Loenneke & brother in law Henry Loenneke of Bartlett TN, nephew David Loenneke & his wife Shelly of Huntsville Arkansas & their children Jett Loenneke & Blake Loenneke Baker (Micah Baker),
Sister in law Terri Jones & her children: Brandon, Shelby, Marilyn & great-niece Allyah
Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Saturday December 7th at 11:00 AM with burial to follow. Visitation will begin at 10:00. May the memories of Bill be an eternal blessing for those that were fortunate to know and love him.
