William Austin Dowdle, Sr.,"Bill"'s Obituary
William Austin Dowdle, Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother was born June 15, 1944 and passed away on May 14, 2020. After graduating White Station High School in 1962, he attended Memphis State University where he excelled as a baseball player setting many records. After college, Bill worked for his father in the family sporting goods business and later became president of Dowdle Sports in partnership with his brother Wayne. He also taught scuba diving for many years making numerous life-long friends along the way. Bill was very active and enjoyed flying, boating, hunting, camping and motorcycle riding. He especially enjoyed sharing these activities with family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his father and mother, Bill and Jeanne Dowdle and mother-in-law, Demetra Quinn. He leaves behind a devoted wife, Demetra, loving son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Christin, grandchildren, Allie and Austin, his brother Wayne (Jeanie) and their family and his sister Carey (Joe Horton) and her family. The family will have a short graveside service at noon on Tuesday, May 19th.
