William "Bill" Curl's Obituary
William “Bill” Russell Curl, of Memphis, died Monday, February 2, 2015. He was born September 26, 1927 in Pleasantville, Tennessee. He was the fifth child of William Lee Curl and Mary Lane Curl. He was the devoted husband of Frances Farrar Curl, whom he met in 1955. They celebrated 57 years of marriage on December 26, 2013. He was the father of four children. Bill was involved the lives of his children and grandchildren, especially after he retired. Bill was very active in Kirby Woods Baptist Church, where he and Frances had been members for almost 30 years. Bill spent lots of time fishing and boating with Frances at their cabin in Pickwick. They enjoyed traveling for Bill’s job and took many trips both with and without their children. One of their favorite destinations was Destin, FL. They spent many weeks over the summers deep sea fishing and spending time on the beach. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, an infant son, William “Billy” Farrar Curl and a grandson Benjamin William Curl. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Grace, Mattie and Mary Lee. He is survived by his daughter Anita Curl Goode (Barry) of DeLand, FL, his two sons Robert Lane Curl (Reba), and Donald Lee Curl (Stacy) both of Memphis, TN. He is also survived by his sisters Myrtle Spann, May Glover and Sue Curl and his brother Ray Curl, as well as 9 grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Kirby Woods Baptist Church, 6325 Poplar Avenue on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 9am. A service celebrating his life will be held immediately following at 10am. We will have a time of fellowship with family and friends following the service. A graveside service will be held at Camden City Cemetery on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 12:00PM. Bill will be interred alongside his wife and son.
