William Louis Cooksey's Obituary
William Louis Cooksey, age 69, of Hernando, MS passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. until the service begins at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 13 at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN followed by a private burial. Louis was born on April 28, 1944 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Ruth and Louis “Buddy” Cooksey. After graduating high school in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Louis attended Louisiana College. His career of service began with the US Air Force followed by the Tennessee Air National Guard; where he retired in 1999 with the rank of Lt Colonel with 33 years of service to his Country. Louis is preceded in death by his parents, and sister; Joline Sledge. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda Ledbetter Cooksey, married 24 years, and their three children, daughter Tammy Harmon and her husband Ron, of Madison, IN; sons Mark Cooksey and his wife Shawnda, of Mason, OH; Preston Clowney and his wife Jessica, of Hernando, MS; their five grandchildren, Taylor and Bryce Harmon, Jack and Grace Cooksey, and Hailey Lane Clowney; sister Elaine Seagler of North Richland Hills, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wings Cancer Foundation, 100 N Humphreys Blvd, Memphis, TN 38120 or First Presbyterian Church, 1455 McIngvale Road, Hernando MS 38632.
