William H. "Bill" Parker's Obituary
WILLIAM H. “Bill” PARKER, 78, of Memphis, TN passed away yesterday, August 29, 2014 at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House. He was born in Memphis on December 22, 1935 and graduated from Messick High School in 1954. Bill began his career in the grocery business and retired from Lever Brothers Company in 1994. He served in U.S. Army. He was a friend of Bill W. for over 36 years and an active member of Christ United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and John C. Parker, Sr. of Memphis, and his brother, John C. Parker, Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA. He is survived by his daughters: Lynn and her husband, Ned Nelson, of Germantown, TN, Mandy Rodges and her partner, Bobby Malone of Little Rock, AR and Shelly Parker, of Lunenburg, MA; grandchildren: James and Parker Nelson of Germantown, TN, Joseph and his wife, Clancy Rodges of Dallas, TX and Brigitte and Nick Joe Lewis of Harvard, MA and great-grandchild, Jon Brymer Rodgers. The family requests that any memorials be sent to Harbour House Memphis or the Christ United Methodist Church Missions Binghampton Education. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, September 1 and funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 2 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
