William W. "Bill" Jones,'s Obituary
William W. “Bill” Jones, Jr., 93, passed away December 23 after a short illness. He was a husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, but more importantly, a Christian. He retired from Mills Morris Automotive in 1980 after over 30 years of service as a salesman. He was born on July 5, 1922 in Solo, Tennessee, a small farming community outside of Covington. Shortly after marriage on December 24, 1943, he and his wife, Lorene, moved to Memphis for employment. In 1970 they built a home in Rosemark, Tennessee on 57 acres of land that they loved dearly. Bill was an ordained Deacon at West Frayser Baptist Church, where he served for over 20 years and was the part-time music minister as well. Once they moved to Rosemark, he also filled those same positions at Rosemark Baptist church for about the same amount of time. He is survived by his son, William W. “Trip” Jones, III (Barbara); grandson, William W. “Bill” Jones, IV (Jennifer) and their two sons, William W. Jones, V and Ethan Wayne Nicholson; grandson, Matthew Arnold Jones (Kim) and their two daughters, Mallory Lynn Jones and Julie Grace Jones; and grandson, Christopher Scott Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Moore Jones; mother, Nora Dawson Jones; father, William W. Jones, Sr.; sisters, Sue Chapman, Mattie Lou Jones, Emma Black, Irene Martin, Zelma Bramble, Mary Helen Warmath; and brother, Charles Otis Jones and his daughter, Mildred Murley, who was about his age and more like a sister than a niece. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, December 26 and his funeral service at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 27 all at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, with internment to follow.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
