William H. (Bill) Hickey's Obituary
Heaven has received its newest angel. William H. (Bill) Hickey, age 84, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 10, 2011. He is survived by a loving and devoted wife of 67 years, Grace Miller Hickey. Daughters and son-in-laws: Grace Anne and John Stredwick of Boca Raton, Fl. and Judith and Marko Boich of Atlanta, Ga. Grandchildren: Forest Huggins, Jesse Huggins and William Nathan Huggins of San Francisco, CA., Kelly Cole of Memphis, TN and Kathy Linkous of Jupiter, FL. Great Grandchildren: Ashley Smith, Mackensey Smith, Spencer Smith and Henry Smith of Omaha, NE and William Nathaniel Huggins Jr and Mathew Christian Huggins of San Francisco, CA. Brothers and sister-in-laws: Gene and Betty Hickey of Southaven, MS and Becky and Darrel Beard of Collierville, TN. William H. (Bill) Hickey was born November 4, 1926, in Emporia, Kansas. Bill was a man dedicated to his wife, children and family. After retirement, he moved himself and his wife back to Memphis, TN specifically so that he could be closer to family. He was always a gentleman who was dependable, honest and trustworthy. Everyone that knew him well lovingly called him “Pistol”. Bill was a man whose greatest joy was in serving others. He exhibited this as portrayed through a life of service to God, country and mankind. He belonged to Christ Methodist and Hope Church in Memphis where he was faithful to the Lord he loved. Bill was what some would describe as a “man’s man” having served in three branches of the armed forces with honorable discharges from the Navy, Air Force and National Guard. He worked as a United States Border patrolmen serving several areas of the US borders including Del Rio and Marfa, Tx. He also spent three years in New York, NY as an immigration officer. He retired a Senior Patrol Agent in 1977. Bill was a lifelong member of the Masons/Scottish Rite Shriners since 1954 where he served as Worshipful Master of the Masons in Marfa, Tx and as a 32nd degree Mason for Memphis lodge 118. Bill will surely be missed by all those he served. Visitation will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on July 12th at Memorial Park Funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 13th at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Forest Hill Irene Road at 1:00 pm.
