William "Bill" Frank Fortner's Obituary
William “Bill” Fortner of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on December 10, 2023. He was 80.
He was born in Greenville, Mississippi, the son of William and Grace Fortner. He graduated from school as an electrical technician and married Patricia Hoeffner after meeting in Memphis. The couple celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this past May.
Bill worked for Bellsouth/AT&T for 45 years and retired in 2012. He was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he often volunteered to help others in need and volunteered as an usher. Bill was known for being kind to others in their time of need. Bill’s most recent hobby included spending time with his one-year-old granddaughter and making her laugh.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Grace; sister Marcia; and brother Joe.
Survived by his beloved wife Tish; his son, Robert (Diane); and daughter, Sharon Morales (David); granddaughter Ava; his brother Greg Fortner; sister Patsy Prewitt (Johnny); and multiple nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church on December 20, 2023 at 11:00 am with visitation at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Jude, https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html.
