William Bannister's Obituary
William Henry Bannister Sr. (82) passed away May 10th 2010 at Northeast Florida Community Hospice after a brief illness. Mr. Bannister was a long time Memphian (1978-2005). He was a long time food broker in Memphis and retired in 2005. He was a native of Bogalusa Louisiana and an alumni of Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge (1949-1953). A WW2 veteran, he served as a Navy Corpsman aboard the USS Okanagan. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, author Nonna Lisowskaja Bannister(2004). Mr. Bannister is survived by his brother Harry Bannister Sr. (Ann) of Columbus Ga., his children, William (Amanda) Bannister Jr., Elizabeth (John) Sumner, John (Kathy) Bannister, his grandchildren, Savannah Bannister, Benjamin Sumner, Cristen Bannister, Zachary Golden, Nonna Bannister, and Kara Bannister. Also, his great grandchildren, Phillip Green, Caden Bannister, and Zack Green. Services will be held at 11:30 am Friday May 14th at Memorial Park Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 9:30 am. The family has requested that any donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
