Wilbur A. Zink's Obituary
Wilbur Arthur Zink was a loving family man and Navy veteran who passed away in Memphis, TN at the age of 92 on December 10, 2019.
He is survived by his children, Mary Alice Long, Mike Timothy Zink and Nancy Zink Everett, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Emma Zink; his siblings, Robert, George, Grace, and Ellis; and his children, Jack, Linda, Jimmy and Joseph.
Wilbur (Bill) Arthur Zink was born in Detroit, MI to Emil Ernest Zink and Leah Watson Zink on October 3, 1927. He served in the US Navy as an Aviation Structural Mechanic Chief in the Korean War, and retired after 20 years. He then worked at Navistar International Harvester for an additional 20 years, and after retiring he continued to work at a local hardware store. He was a talented carpenter, woodcrafter, and gardener. Bill loved to dance and build model airplanes, which will stand among treasured memories - along with his patience, quick wit, and warmth -. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to all of the children in his life.
On Monday, December 30, 2019, Bill will be laid to rest. Graveside services will be at 1:15 p.m. at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Rd, Memphis, TN 38125. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of this great man.
