Warren Jordan's Obituary
Warren Boyd Jordan, Sr., 91, died October 21, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.He was founder and board chairman of International Chemical Corporation in Memphis until his retirement in 2003. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he moved to Memphis with his family at age two. Mr. Jordan graduated from Tech High School, earned the LLB degree, and later a JD, from the University of Memphis Law School. He became personnel director of E. I. Dupont’s Kankakee Ordnance Works before joining the U.S. Navy in 1944 and serving aboard a destroyer. An active member of First Baptist Church, he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Mr. Jordan served 18 years on the Board of Memphis Union Mission. He was a past president of the Memphis Chemical Club. He was also a member of East Memphis Rotary Club, and a board member of the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association.Mr. Jordan is survived by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Terry Jordan; two daughters, Meredith Jennings and her husband Donald; Margaret Murray and her husband Richard; son, Warren Jordan, Jr. and his wife Lesa. His grandchildren are Allison Jennings Garfinkel, Baylor Jennings, Warren Boyd Jordan, III, Alan Murray, Meredith Murray Newton, and Jordan Murray and thirteen great grandchildren.
