Wanda Lee Whitehead's Obituary
Wanda Lee Whitehead, 83, Loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She touched the lives of so many with her unconditional love, generosity, and kindness. She will be forever missed. Preceeded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Jerry Whitehead, M.D. Preceeded in death by her father, J.C. "Jim" Coleman and her mother, Sara Ruth Coleman. She leaves behind her daughters, Robin Whitehead Stevens and Maris "Mimi" Knauss. And sons William J. "Bill" Whitehead (Kellie) and Mark Whitehead (Paul). Grandsons John Welsh and Christopher "Cricket" Welsh, who lovingly called her Grammy. She is survived by her brother, Tom Coleman (Dana) and her sister, Vickie Pratt (Jim).
Wanda owned M and W Church Goods on McLean for over 25 years. She was a longtime Memphis Tigers fan. She was a member of the Nineteenth Century Club and loved to play bridge with her many friends. She loved her many vacations with her family. She adored her dogs and loved flowers. She was a 12 year student at Treadwell in Memphis, graduating in 1957. She played piano for many years, had a great sense of humor and wonderful laugh! She loved her church: Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. She lived in many places including Germantown, TN and Slayden, MS. She lived the past 6 years in Oakland, TN.
We love you Mom! We know Dad was so happy to be reunited with his love.
The visitation will 10:30 a.m. until the service time at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or New Beginnings Animal Rescue.
