Walter H. Lafferty's Obituary
Walter Herbert Lafferty, Jr., 80, passed away December 21, 2015. He was born December 19, 1935 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He received his bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and his master’s degree from Tulane University. Walter was a wonderful husband and a generous, giving person. He was a Christian man who tried to live his life faithfully. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter H. Lafferty, Sr. and Ollie Stout Lafferty Brown; step-daughters, Nancy Laura Hughen and Susan Vanderpol; and sister, Frances Bunker. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret Lafferty; son, Nathan Lafferty; step-sons, John Michael Hughen and Joel Hughen; sisters, Karen Lafferty and Satie Hamburg; brother, Jerome Brown; and many grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 30 at Bellevue Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. A private family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
