This is sad news. I am certain though only for us left behind, not for Walt. A man of faith and integrity. I have not seen my friend in quite a few years I'm sorry to say, but our friendship spanned many years as I met Walt back when I was in high school and he was at u of m and we both were members of the victoria station opening team. I was one of walt's managers at all the incarnations of promus - harrah's for 18
years. He taught me many management skills that served me well on through the years after our work together. The opening and subsequent years at cherry rd property were a highlight in my career, much due to the support and faith that Walt had in me.

Walt was a mentor and great man .He was a great leader and I have a lot of fond memories of working together in the corporate facilities realm (Cherry Road). He set the bar high, create and manage a world class operation - he was the single person that I looked to on how to do what we do- I use his standard to this day. He was also a friend and the single person that made me what I am today.. I will be forever in his debt. He will be missed and not forgotten ... .my thought and prayers are with his family and love ones ...

I first met Walt when he was at Promus Companies. I was a new Xerox Sales Rep and Walt was managing the Facilities at Cherry Road. Walt was always kind, gracious and thoughtful to everyone he met. Years after Walt retired from Harrah's we stayed in contact and I will miss our quarterly lunches at Acre Restaurant. He always made me feel welcome and asked countless questions about my family even though he never met them. I will keep Walt and his family in my prayers.

This man was really the one who taught me about integrity and how to be successful in the workplace. I became his secretary at just 19 and moved up in the corporate world under his wing. Would have probably still worked for him now had I not taken a ten year hiatus to have children. I will forever credit him with so many things - but the best of all is that he was my great friend. So many great memories that Woody and I will be treasure always, from Destin trips, to many dinners at each others’ homes, kids birthday parties, and he and Cindy even spent time with my mom, “Toss,” as they all loved to watch the Tigers play basketball. Such precious memories. Bubba, you will surely be missed!
