Walter Franklin Baker's Obituary
Walter Franklin Baker, passed away at the age of 93 on January 14, 2018. Walter was born March 3, 1924 in Springfield, Missouri. Walter served our country as an Air Navigator in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WWII. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Civil Engineering. Walter married Suzanne Hart Baker in 1947. They moved and resided in Memphis in 1957. Walter owned and operated CPI Concrete Products Inc, and was a pioneer in the pre-stressed concrete business until he retired in 1998. Walter was a long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church. He leaves behind three children, Frank Baker (Denise), John Baker and Julie Baker Coletta (Joe), seven grandchildren Carrie Baker Beaugrand, Daniel Baker (Lesley), Markus Baker (deceased), Pete Coletta (Laura), Jeff Coletta, Danielle Baker, Brandon Baker and six great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Village at Germantown Foundation. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 18 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119 (901) 767-8930. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
