Wallace Ray Traylor's Obituary
Wallace “Wally” Ray Traylor, 83, passed away on July 23, 2025 at St. Francis Bartlett Hospital, with his family by his side. Born in Sparta, Kentucky on July 30, 1941 to the late Lorene Rose Traylor and Benjamin Franklin Traylor. Wally was a graduate of Gallatin County High School Class of 1959, He then attended Eastern Kentucky State College. After his time at Eastern Kentucky, Wally joined the Army National Guard and gained employment at Canteen Corporation where he remained working for the next 25 years. For the remainder of his working life, he was employed at FedEx I a similar capacity.
During Wally’s free time he enjoyed bowling and for a time belonged to a bowling league, reading sci-fi novels, along with watching and enjoy science fiction movies and tv shows.
Wally is survived by his wife Judy Traylor, his three children, Jeff Traylor (Laney), Kelly Shirey (Sam), Nicholas Traylor (Jessica), his 2 grandsons Nate and Christopher Shirey, and his sister Rose Carolyn Rabideaux. He is proceeded in death by his parents and two of his sisters, Laverne Liles, and Wanda Bryant.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. both will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN, 38119.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the ARC of Northwest MS, an organization that has been greatly helpful to his grandsons. The ARC of Northwest MS is a local chapter of a nationwide organization that helps provide advocacy and activities for children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
