Virginia Ruth Robbins' Obituary
Virginia Robbins 1926-2022
There was joy in heaven on October 14, 2022 when the Lord welcomed His faithful servant, Virginia. She has joined her beloved husband Martin and they are together again. She was preceded in death by her parents Sallie and Robert Davis and her brothers, Jessie Davis, William Davis, Leon Davis, O'Neal Davis, and her only sister, Elizabeth.
Left to mourn her loss are her four children, Pam Northcutt, Judy Shappley (Perrin), Marty Robbins (Teri) and Sherrie Riley (Johnny). She also leaves her loving and devoted grandchildren, Steve Trout (Geri), Renee McDonald (Aaron), Morgan Robbins (Mark Paul), Logan Riley and Allison Pehanick (Joe) as well as her great grandchildren Lindsey Brock (Chloe), Abigail Trout and great, great grandson, Nolan Brock.
Virginia was born on January 2, 1926 in Charlotte Tennessee and grew up on the family farm. She was the youngest of the six children and learned the art of homemaking from her hardworking mother. She met Martin in 1947 after he graduated from UT in Knoxville. From that day forward, she was a VOLS fan and loved watching their games. She and Martin traveled the world together while he represented Massey Ferguson. They had many friends both through his work and their church. She was a lifelong Methodist who loved the Lord. She was active in the Woman's Circle donating her time and talents to those less fortunate than herself. She was a wonderful self- taught seamstress creating beautiful clothes for her three girls that were the envy of all of their friends.
Her greatest joy was found in her children and grandchildren attending any special events with them and always there for us when we needed her. She was the epitome of the perfect 1950's wife and mother-we were so blessed to have had her in our lives. She taught us many things but most of all she taught us how to love and care for those we love by the selfless life she led. We will miss her sweet and funny nature and the kindness that she showed to all she met.
Her family will welcome friends to her visitation starting at 12:00pm on Wednesday October 19th at Memorial Park Funeral Home 5668 Poplar Ave. We wish to thank Dr. Cary Finn and his staff who attended to her healthcare for many years for their kindness and devotion to her as his patient. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Charlotte Fagin Methodist Church in Charlotte TN and St Jude Research Hospital.
