Virginia Mae Haley's Obituary
Virginia Mae Haley “Gin” 89, of Memphis, TN passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her family as she departed from this earth, peacefully, into the heavenly home prepared for her by her Lord, Jesus. Visitation for Virginia will be from 10:30 – 11:30 am Saturday, March 26 with funeral services immediately following at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Ave. Virginia was born in Cord, AR, the daughter of Albert Stayton Rice and Sula Octavia Parr Rice. She moved to Memphis in 1957 with her husband Andrew Haley, her daughter, Jennifer, and son, Jeffrey. Aside from being a devoted wife, loving and giving mother, super grandmother, and great-grandmother (and friend), she lived and breathed “Hairdressing”, opening one of the first Non-Smoking beauty shops in Memphis, TN. She absolutely was a ‘people person’ who loved her work, her shop and her customers. She and her husband enjoyed ball room dancing and have many trophies showing their accomplishments in this hobby. Virginia was a member of Balmoral Baptist Church for close to 30 years and when first moving to Memphis was a member of Cherry Road Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Haley, and leaves two children, Jennifer Haley Raney (Mike) of Memphis and Jeffrey K. Haley (Jan) of Corinth, MS; four grandchildren, Jared Raney (Meredith) of Memphis, Jill Haley of New York City, Jake Haley, and Josh Haley of Corinth, MS and her one newest ‘pride and joy’, a Great-Grandson, Enoch Raney of Memphis. She is affectionately called Nana by Jared, Meredith and Enoch and NeeNee by Jill, Jake and Josh. Her personality, love for life, wit and spunk will be sorely missed.
