Virginia Ann Curry's Obituary
Virginia Ann Furbish Curry, 87, of Memphis died peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 14, 2016. She was born February 22, 1929. She was preceded in death by James Dudley Curry, her husband of 64 years. She is survived by daughter Patricia Curry Simmons (Sam) of Ridgeland, MS, and son William Reily Curry of Memphis.Ann was a graduate of Central High School and Memphis State University, where she earned both a bachelor degree and master’s degree in education. She was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church in Memphis and served faithfully in numerous ministry roles that touched the lives of many. Ann taught four and five year olds at Christ United Methodist’s Day School for over a decade. She later became a member of Germantown Methodist Church and remained active in Community Bible Study.Her supreme delight was bringing joy to children, whether in church classes, through community service, or in the homes of neighbors.During her final year of life, Ann made Heritage at Irene Woods (Memphis) her new home. She was loved by staff and residents alike. Her smile and laughter brought joy to everyone around her.The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 am on Monday, July 18 immediately followed by funeral services at Memorial Park Funeral Home.The family wishes to thank the staff of Crossroads Hospice and Heritage at Irene Woods for the loving care they provided Ann during her final years.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 901-767-8930 “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”.
