Vicki Chapin-Hughes' Obituary
Vicki Chapin-Hughes crossed into Heaven on April 2, 2015 peacefully and at home after a heroic battle with a brain injury. She was born in McGregor, Iowa to Bernice and Raymond Trygg on January 30th, 1947. She attended Ogden High School where she flourished and was active in Pep Club, Majorettes, and Yearbook staff. Her senior year she was the leading lady in the school play and a member of the Homecoming Court. She attended University of Northern Iowa where she met Howard Douglas Chapin. They married and had three children. She was self-employed, loved playing tennis and golf and, most likely her proudest achievement, was as an outstanding mother and grandmother. A delightfully vivacious and truly fantastic person, Vicki touched many lives around her both before and after the accident. Her kindness and zest for life were gifts to all that knew her. Her humor, optimism, and her beautiful smile will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Vicki is preceeded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Timothy Andrew Trygg. She is survived by her husband of seven years, Douglas Clark Hughes, her three children, Teresa Anne Farah (Fred), Douglas Andrew Chapin, and Christine Rose Groves (Ryan). Her sister Tanis Bula of Denver, CO., brother Calvin John Trygg of Kerrville, TX., and Aunt Betty Brownson of Monona, IA. also survive. She was known as GiGi to her surviving grandchildren, the lights of her life, Shelby, Gracen , and Grant. The family would like to receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday April 4 at 10:00am with graveside service at 11am.
