Vernon Robert Bowen, 78, went home to be with Christ Saturday, August 31, 2013. Mr. Bowen retired after 34 years as Lieutenant Commander from the United States Navy and currently a tax preparer at H&R Block. He is survived by his Read Obituary
My grandmother Lee Ellen used to tell me stories about Vernon staying with her when he was a youth & what a good helper he was around the house. Later I crossed paths with Roy while he was stationed in CA. I am sorry for your family’s loss of this good man & glad for the years you had together. Sherry- Ermalee’s daughter in CA.
Vern was a very fine man who was always a gentleman. He put others first. It was my honor to have know him as a shipmate and a friend. We shared many laughs and some very serious moments. My heart goes out to the family who have lost a true Patriarch. We will miss him but know that he is smiling from heaven and delighted to be in the presence of Christ our Lord..John and Fran Pierson
