Ray McGarity was my Best Friend growing up in Memphis, I have Great Memories playing Left Field Baseball at Bethel Grove School Playground, He could hit the ball a mile, he was great in every sport, we played!!! R.I.P. Ray, I know you are missed by many!!!
I been trying to get in touch with Coach Mac had know idea he had passed he will truly be missed. Coach Mac was my basketball coach at Lincoln Jr. High he taught me all about playing basketball 😥😥😥😥😥😢he was my favorite Coach.

I remember the coach as my gym and heath teacher . He didn’t allow any horse play as he called it . He made an impression on me to be serious at Lincoln Junior High and many others .I needed his strong guidence and his love of basketball along with a great sense of humor in its proper time . RIP coach Mac. He was my 7th and 8th grade PE teacher at Lincoln Jr. High in during the spring and fall of 1981. He will be sorely missed.
I met Coach at MCHS. He was a great listener great teacher, great counseled just great all around. Coach believed in helping people and being there. May you rest in peace Coach. You will forever be missed. Candace Jones
I first met Coach McGarity during my tenth grade year at Middle College High. The one thing I will never forget is his sense of humor. He was a great mentor and an even better person. May he rest in everlasting peace. My blessings go out to his relatives and close friends. MCHS Class of 2003 will always miss you, coach.
Coach was the best teacher I had in MCHS. When I got on the tennis team he helped me to bes better player. He will be missed.
Coach Mac was my Gym & Track Coach at Lincoln Junior High School. Two memories stick out the most with me about him…..#1- The Rappin’ Duke he loved that song and we loved to see him sing it. #2- Although I am from the west coast I briefly attended LJHS and ran track for him. He would tell me, “Just because you’re not from here with a funny accent doesn’t mean I’m cutting you any slack” then he’d laugh. That was my first lesson in life that if you want to do something suck it up and do it. There are teachers that are just teachers and then there are those who touch your life forever. He was one of my forever teachers.To show you just how much he was loved and admired by the many students at LJHS the news of this loss reached me all the way in Colorado. My heart sank when I heard he was ill and now my heart aches knowing he’s gone. My condolences to the entire family and know that he made a great difference in a lot of kid’s lives.
