Vernon Brugge's Obituary
Vernon L Brugge, 91, was taken to his eternal home Tuesday, December 8, 2015. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Lorraine in November of last year. He was born in Gordonville, Mo to Rev. Victor and Mynette Brugge. A lifelong Memphian, he was a dedicated lay worker for his church having served in various offices, and as a teacher to both adults and children. He served on the Lutheran Church – Mid-South District Board of Missions, and as a trained grievance counselor for the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. He had an older sister, Evelynn Watson (deceased), and a younger brother, Warren (deceased). He leaves behind a younger sister, Ellen Jean Harms of Austin Tx, as well as his daughter, Arden Korn of Columbia SC and her husband Jim, and a son, David Brugge of Memphis and his wife Miki. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Matthew Korn of Summit NJ, Allison Korn of Baltimore, Elizabeth Brugge Neilson of Washington DC, and Anna Brugge of New York, as well as great-granddaughters, Chloe and Neko Korn, daughters of Matthew and Kim Korn. Visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 11 from 5 pm until 7 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119 A Memorial Service will be at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 5296 Park Ave, Memphis, TN 38119 , Saturday 12, at 2pm. He will be buried Sunday afternoon, next to his wife in the Big Barren Church cemetery near Van Buren, Mo., near Van Buren, MO. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119. “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
