Vernita Reed's Obituary
Vernita Chloe Reed, 87, of Memphis, TN, died Sunday, March 10, 2013 in the home of her daughter, Cynde Morris in South Carolina. To most she was known as “Sister Reed” as she was the pastor’s wife of Rev. T. Richard Reed for forty-nine years, who preceded her in death March 19, 1993. She loved going to church and was a beloved member of The Pentecostal Church in Memphis. She loved people and never met a stranger wherever she went. She played the piano and enjoyed singing the old gospel hymns, but writing poetry was her passion. Her poem “No Longer We But Just Me” was published describing the loss of her husband. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Samuel Timothy Reed, her sisters, Bea Craine Herrmann, Naomi Craine Rees, and brother, Marcus Craine. Vernita is survived by her children, Thomas Richard (Rick) Reed, Jr., Michael Robert (Mike) Reed, and Cynthia Denice (Cynde) Reed Morris, thirteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 15 at Memorial Park, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis TN. Interment will be Jonesboro Memorial Park in Jonesboro AR, at 2 p.m. also on Friday.
