Verna Sparks' Obituary
Verna Willis Sparks, 68, of Olive Branch, retired bookkeeper, died January 16, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, January 18 with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2010, all being held at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mrs. Sparks leaves behind her husband of 47 years, James; son, Kevin Sparks and wife Shanna; daughter, Cindy Bryant and husband John; four grandsons, Peyton, Brandon, Ethan Sparks, Eli Bryant; two granddaughters, Kate Bryant, Molly Grace Sparks; six sisters, Helen Thornton (Allen), Rosalie Dickey, Barbara Griffin (Russell), Shirley McDonald (Jerry), Sylvia Finley (Russell) and June McCarter (Tommy). She was preceded in death by her parents, Gayle and Martha Willis, son James Wilson Sparks, Jr., and two brothers, Robert Gayle Willis and Lewis Willis. Mrs. Sparks was member of Longview Heights Baptist Church and former member of Leawood Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends but fondly remembered as a wonderful loving wife, mom, mother-in-law, maw-maw and sister, whose strong faith in God was an example to us all.
