Verena Parks Cook's Obituary
Verena Parks Cook, 85, of Memphis died on Saturday, July 21st at the Memphis Jewish Home. She was born near Gleason, TN in Weakley County on February 21, 1927, the daughter of Homer and Willie Parks. She graduated from McKenzie High School in 1945. Verena was married to Paul W. Cook on Christmas Day that same year. Verena was most devoted to her role as wife and mother. She was married to Paul for 65 years, and raised two loving sons who honor her memory. She was admired and respected by many people throughout her life, and was considered an exceptionally kind and gentle person by all who knew her. She will be remembered and missed. She is survived by her sons, Paul W. Cook, Jr. (Vava) and Michael Cook (Vicki); her grandchildren Amanda Cook, Melanie Clark (Josh), David Cook and Emily Cook; her great-grandchildren Rigby Clark and Dalloway Clark; and her brother Forrest Allen Parks (Jean). Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral on Monday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with funeral services held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday July 24th. Burial will take place in McKenzie, TN later that day. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to either Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova or the Memphis Jewish Home in Cordova.
