Velton Warren Trimm's Obituary
Velton Warren Trimm passed peacefully from this life on July 3, 2021 at the age of 92. He was born on August 23, 1928 and is survived by Dorothy Trimm, his wife of 68 years. He leaves three children, Ron Trimm (Debbie), Dianne Callahan (Tony), and Linda Knipple (Kevin), six grandchildren, David Callahan (Heather), Mike Callahan (Ashley), Rebecca Trimm, Aaron Trimm (Haley), Andrew Knipple and Ben Knipple, six great grandchildren, Abby Callahan, Eli Callahan, Klaus Trimm, Elaina Trimm, Ethan Thomas and Mason Thomas. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Heather Thomas and his two brothers, Carl Trimm and Troy Trimm.
Velton was a wonderful husband and father who loved God and his family above all else. He was a friend to all who knew him and he never met a stranger. Born one year before the start of the Great Depression, he understood hard work and had a servant's heart to relieve the pain and distress of those less fortunate.
He served in the U.S. Army for 35 years, both in active duty at the end of WWII and in the Korean Conflict and then in the Army Reserves. In addition to serving his country in the Army, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier for 35 years.
Although he served in the Army and the Postal Service, his greatest achievement was as a faithful christian. Everything he did was based on pleasing his heavenly Father. We will miss him terribly but look forward to seeing him again in heaven.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 20 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 pm at Forest Hill Church of Christ, 3950 Forest Hill Irene Road in Memphis. The committal service will immediately follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
