Vassar "Lorraine" Smith's Obituary
Vassar “Lorraine” Smith, 96, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Primacy Healthcare in Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo Smith and sons Donald Lloyd and Lee Edward Smith. Mrs. Smith leaves behind her sisters Florence Day of Carmichael, CA and Marilyn Aeschliman of Huntington Beach, CA, granddaughters Wendy May of Holly Springs, MS and Lisa Manka of Grand Prairie, TX, and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Smith received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Spanish at the University of Memphis and her Master of Arts degree in English from the Arkansas State University. She taught English and Spanish at Germantown High School until her retirement in 1984. After retirement she was a columnist for the Collierville Herald for several years. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the service begins at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow.
