Trudie Steinkamp Ryland's Obituary
Trudie Steinkamp Ryland, passed peacefully from this life October 24, 2009 at the Hospice Center in Mt. Pleasant, and is continuing on her journey. Mrs. Ryland was born November 2, 1918 in Covington, TN to William McCarter and Willie Archer McCarter, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Steinkamp, son, Glenn Lee Steinkamp and husband, Samuel P. Ryland. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Steinkamp O’Mara of Mt. Pleasant; nephew, Mark Steinkamp and his wife, Eileen of Palo Alto, Ca; niece, Susan Steinkamp Jowers of Kissimmee, FL, and niece, Jacqueline Steinkamp Hogan and her husband, Pat of Memphis, TN. Trudie was a 50 year member of Mullins United Methodist Church in Memphis, TN and was very active in the Crusader Sunday School class. She was an avid bridge player and played in several bridge clubs, while she lived in Memphis. With grateful hearts, the family wishes to express their love and appreciation to the staff at Savannah/ Grace The Palms of Mt. Pleasant and to the Hospice Center for their compassion, dedication and professional care of Trudie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the The Center for Birds of Prey, P.O. box 1247, Charleston, SC 29402 or Mullins United Methodist Church, 4 North Mendenhall, Memphis, TN 38117. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 23 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
