Trevor Gerald Redden's Obituary
We deeply mourn the unexpected passing of our precious son and brother Trevor Gerald Redden on March 30, 2024 in Ibague, Colombia. Trevor is remembered as a much-loved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend and is survived by his father, Steve Gerald Redden, mother, Ruth Anne Bridges, sister, Erin Olivia Tran, niece and nephew Lilly and Jaden Tran, and grandmother, Sue Redden.
Trevor was born in Memphis, Tennessee on August 29,1979. He graduated from Briarcrest High School in 1998 and pursued higher education at the University of Tennessee and University of Memphis. As a young child, Trevor had a remarkable gift for drawing. In Preschool, he drew the Mona Lisa perfectly when asked to draw something in class. Throughout his school years, he participated in sports (rugby, soccer, and wrestling), In college, Trevor joined the UTK Rugby team. Although not that big, he would go at anyone no matter their size sometimes taking the brunt of the hit. Trevor enjoyed musical theory and was a self-taught pianist.
Trevor also loved ski trips with his family and friends. He had no fear. One ski instructor said his parents needed to watch out for him, because he would point his skis downhill and fly! Trevor was extremely intelligent, could learn the ins and outs of any subject quickly, and loved to have deep conversations about what he had learned. His cousin, also very smart, said that on a good day, he could almost keep up with Trevor. After college, Trevor pursued a career in computer coding spending many years working at his father’s software company, Business Advantage and later Lumatrak. He was also passionate about investing in the stock market. He was one of the lucky few who benefitted significantly from early investments in GameStop.
Trevor was always really good with small children, very loving and extremely kind. When the family visited Paris for the World Cup soccer tournament, we encountered a very young Gypsy girl with bright eyes begging for money. Trevor immediately reached into his pocket, smiled and gave her money.
Later, when Trevor visited his niece, he would not come empty handed, bringing the largest stuffed animal he could find.
Trevor had a real passion for traveling much like Ernest Hemingway’s adventures. He enjoyed living intermittently in Costa Rica and had made his home in Puerto Rico since December 2020. Trevor was visiting Colombia at the time of his passing. Friends in Puerto Rico remember him as a humble, gentle, generous businessman who helped the family start a business. Trevor’s family and friends remember his great intelligence, loyalty, and wit. He was passionate about his interests and wanted everyone to share those passions.
In his early years he attended Bartlett United Methodist and Christ United Methodist Churches.
Trevor was beloved by his family and friends. We all miss him and will miss him as the days pass into the future. We love you, Trevor!
Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday April 25 at 11:30 AM followed by the service at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (https://afsp.org/).
