Trevor Carewe Pate's Obituary
Trevor Carewe Pate, age 37, of Germantown, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
Trevor was born in Memphis on September 2, 1985 to Teresa Reynolds Pate and the late Edwin Hodge Pate. He was the younger of their two children.
Trevor was more than the sum of his parts, although the sum of his parts did yield a pretty incredible person.
Trevor was an Eagle Scout. He started scouting as a kindergartener and went the entire way, which is no small thing. Achieving the highest level of scouting takes a level of commitment that people don’t realize.
In 2002 Trevor received the Roary Club Character Achievement Award in recognition of outstanding character in overcoming his own personal obstacles.
He was a walking encyclopedia. From an early age, Trevor engrossed himself in things that fascinated him. Folks who knew him knew not to ask him about World War II, weightlifting, gardening, dogs, or the Bibles' Minor Prophets unless they had several hours to kill.
Trevor was a big guy, and when he gave you a bear hug, he would likely give you a complimentary chiropractic adjustment, too.
Trevor was a master in the art of telling bad jokes. They were bad, but in the best possible way.
Trevor’s level of compassion was one of the most beautiful things about him. He listened when you needed to vent and never bore any judgement. He was nonconfrontational and loving. His love was truly unconditional.
Trevor is survived by his mother, Teresa Reynolds Pate; sister Emily Austin (Ben) and niece Cecille. There are many other extended family members and friends who appreciated his love, warmth, and joy.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, July 22 at 10 o’clock in the morning at St. Columba Episcopal Retreat Center (Scheibler Lodge) for a celebration of Trevor’s life. A reception will follow at 11 o’clock. St. Columba is located at 4577 Billy Maher Road, Memphis, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Chickasaw council of the Boy Scouts of America in memory of Trevor. 171 S. Hollywood Memphis, Tn 38117
