Tommy Freeman Crawford's Obituary
Tommy Freeman Crawford, an easy-going man who could make virtually anything in his backyard shop, died early on the morning of March 20, 2009 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East after a long illness.He was born in Kennett, MO, on Dec. 20, 1940, attended Kennett city schools and was graduated from Kennett High School class of 1959. After graduation, Tom moved to Memphis and began an early career as a deputy sheriff with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. He had a long career as a commercial heating and air conditioning service technician and joined the University of Memphis as a facilities management service representative, repairing and maintaining the various buildings and facilities of the university campus system.Tom and his wife, Sherry, of more than 30 years, were communicants of All Saints Episcopal Church. Besides his wife, Tom leaves a son, Todd Crawford of Lakeland, his wife Julie, and her son Daniel Landon; two brothers, Carl W. Crawford of Madison, MS, and Larry H. Crawford of Pleasant Plains, AR, and a sister, the Rev. Susan K. Crawford of Chesterfield, MO, an Episcopal rector in the metro St. Louis area.Memorial services will be at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24th at All Saints Episcopal Church, located at White Station Road and Quince. His remains will be placed in a columbarium at the church.The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude or the Memphis Humane Society.
