Timothy Dale Vargo, known to all as Tim, passed away on June 6, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with leiomyosarcoma. He recently celebrated his 75th birthday. Tim was born on May 12, 1951, in Elyria, Ohio, to George an Read Obituary
Tim called out of the blue to invite us to dinner at Char. He welcomed us to Memphis as we relocated to Harbor Town. I helped Tim with his Porsche race car brakes. He helped us supply our brakes to the AutoZone stores. He had an energy that few people have. Rare human.
Just when he smiled, he made you smile. He always made you feel like you were the most important person he was engaging with.
Tim was a great friend to my husband, Bill Cone, and me for many years. He was never too busy to talk and he was instrumental in recruiting Bill to join AutoShack (AutoZone) back in the start-up days. He was a kind and generous, glass-half-full guy. He was kind enough to serve as a pallbearer at my Bill’s funeral before he moved to Atlanta. Although we had lost touch with each other I have very fond memories of former days with Tim and Alice. So sorry I didn’t know of the service for him.

I remembered Tim when DFW opened there first Autozone ..
I got sick one day and he wish me a speedy recovery as I never really knew him.
