Thomas J. Tilley's Obituary
Wallace S. Ball, 76, died at Methodist North Hospital on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Ball was predeceased by his older daughter, Jana Ball Jackson. He leaves his loving wife of 53 years, Anna Cathryn Ball; his daughter, Jodi Ball; two sons, Sidney Ball and Dan Ball, all of Memphis. He also leaves four grandchildren, Andy Jackson, Rob Jackson, Katie Jackson and Will Jackson, all of Brandon, Mississippi; a sister, Janet Ball Cannon and a niece, Kelley Hayes, of Decatur,Alabama. Mr. Ball was born August 26, 1933 in Balch,AR to Raymond Walter Ball and Fay Smith Ball and raised in Memphis. A graduate of Humes High School and Memphis State University, Mr. Ball earned a BS and Masters Degree in Education. He retired from the Memphis City Schools, after serving 25 years as a High School Teacher, Vocational Coordinator and Administrator. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, history, and good conversation. He was known for his warmth and sense of humor. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Memorial Park Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at 11:30. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association.
