Thomas James O'Brien's Obituary
Thomas James O’Brien, Cmdr. USN Retired, 83, died peacefully at home on August 18, 2014. A loving husband, father, grand-father, great-grandfather and longtime member of St Ann Catholic Church, Bartlett, Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing, serving his church and loving his family. Eldest of four brothers, he was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Margaret and his brothers Neil and Frank Joe. He is survived by his loving wife Vivian of 61 years, his daughter Mimi (Bill), son Tommy Jr. (Sheila), daughter Kathy (Dick), son Michael (Penne), thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his youngest brother Chris of Knoxville and a number of beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at St. Ann Bartlett 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 21; with a Funeral Mass following at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service with full military honors at Memorial Park Cemetery, on Poplar Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Ann Bartlett Building Fund.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
