Thomas A. Johnson's Obituary
Thomas Alvis Johnson, 75, of Germantown, TN joined his loving wife in heaven on February 2, 2018. He is survived by his three daughters Renee Johnson Robinson (Stuart) Madison, MS, Tracey Johnson Crooks (Ron) Boise, ID and Tommie Suzanne Johnson Wheeler (Aden) Germantown, TN, six grandchildren, Stuart, Mary Holly, Adam, Aaron, Austin and Harper and countless family and friends. Tommy was a graduate of Earl High School in Earl, AR. After high school Tommy married the love of his life Ellen Sue Chadwick on June 3, 1962. In his younger years Tommy worked as a welder, working on the Hernando DeSoto Bridge. He was a self-made man, always striving to provide for his family. His motto was “I will always give more than I take.” After years of working in the material handling industry Tommy had a dream to start his own company. Industrial Conveyor Corporation, founded in 1977, was a dominant factor in conveyor systems and installations by the 1980s with several patented products. Tommy led the successful company whose impact is still felt today with many systems still in operation. Tommy was an avid outdoorsmen and loved hunting and fishing. He spent his retirement years traveling with his wife and spending time with family. He loved to cook and the family always enjoyed Papaw’s steaks, spaghetti and chicken gumbo. The celebration of Tommy’s life will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17 with the memorial service to begin at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Mississippi Wildlife Federation, 517 Cobblestone Ct.
