Thomas A. Harrison's Obituary
Thomas Alsobrook Harrison, III of Collierville Tennessee, former Director of Circulation for the Commercial Appeal, died Friday morning, April 9 at his home. He was 70. Mr. Harrison was a member of the Collierville United Methodist Church. Tom started in business with his father, Thomas A. Harrison, Jr. at High’s Ice Cream Novelties.He later owned P B Transfer and Storage, and was an agent for Mayflower and United Van Lines. After selling his business, Mr. Harrison took a position at the Commercial Appeal as Director of Circulation. Upon retiring from this position, he worked and traveled with his wife, for RED GOLD, LLC. Tom was an avid golfer. He was a Member of Colonial Country Club and served on their Board for many years.Later when he and his wife Dallas moved to Collierville, he rejoined Windyke Country Club. Mr. Harrison was a member of the fifth generation of the Harrison family that settled in the Shelby County area in the early 1800’s. He leaves his wife, Dallas; his children, Thomas A. Harrison, IV and his wife Gratia of Alpharetta, GA; Adam Jay Harrison and his wife Dawn of Herndon, VA.; Michael Grant Harrison and his wife Jessica of New Orleans, LA. Three grandchildren, Thomas A. Harrison, V; Estelle Brooke Harrison (born on his birthday February 3) and Ava Isabella Harrison. Tom is also survived by his step mother Dorothy “Dot” Harrison of Stone Mountain, GA, his mother-in-law, Lucille Galloway who resided with Tom and Dallas;and stray Kitty; whom Tom rescued from the cold. In addition Tom leaves behind his brother Bill Wilson of Sevierville, TN and his sister Molly Adams of Memphis, TN. From “Love, me” by Collin Raye.
