Thomas Lanier Dismukes' Obituary
THOMAS LANIER DISMUKES
Born November 27, 1935 to Thomas Alexander Dismukes and Mildred Inez Stone Dismukes, Thomas was the 2nd of 5 children and 1st born son.
He met the love of his life, Helena, in 1958. They were blessed to have celebrated 63 wonderful years together. They shared two daughters: Cindy (Greg) Bilson and Debbie (Richard) Ross. He cherished his family greatly and took great pride in his grandsons Matthew (Megan) and Jonathan Bilson. He will be deeply missed by his brothers, Bill (Beverly) and David (Bonnie) and his sister, Mildred Pincheon.
He was a successful businessman - always carving out his own lane & being his own Boss. He was steadfast in his choices and stuck to his guns. He excelled in Real Estate and eventually “retired” to manage his own properties and keep his hands always in little DIY projects around the house.
He loved being a prankster and usually was the one doing “rabbit ears” in family pictures or finding clever & challenging ways to hide money in gifts, and always cracking himself up with his one of a kind jokes. He took great joy in watching his grandsons grow and go off to the Mississippi State University. He also found great pleasure in all the “Fur (grand) Babies” (big & small) that made their way to his lap. He was very proud to have served in the National Guard as a Reservist.
On February 13th, he joined the many angels, including his parents and sister, Barbara Burroughs, to watch over all of us. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Humane Society of Memphis.
