Thomas Lee Craig's Obituary
On Sunday, December 4, 2022 Thomas Lee Craig- age 75, of Germantown, TN died peacefully in his home. Tom was born May 18, 1947 to Wilma Mae Bond Craig and Robert Earl Craig in Memphis, TN. He was a loving, generous, and devoted son, husband, brother, father, father-in-law, and Poppy.
Tom went to Sherwood, Messick, and Memphis State University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi fraternity, ROTC and a variety of clubs within the Engineering Department. He graduated in 1970 with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
Tom married Pamela Ann Kelso on September 6, 1969. They were members at Audubon Park Baptist Church, where they raised their daughter and two sons until moving to Austin, Texas.
Tom worked the majority of his career at Richard’s, which later became Smith & Nephew. In 1984, he moved his family to Austin, TX to work at Intermedics Orthopedics. He brought his family home, to Memphis, in 1991 where he returned to Smith and Nephew. He began working at Richard’s at the age of 19 in the warehouse and retired there as Director of Regulatory Affairs. He was former President of OSMA - Orthopedic Surgical Manufacturers Association, worked with ASTM- American Society for Testing and Materials, and was a member of ISO International Society.
After retirement, Tom became the Executive Assistant of OSMA for a number of years, and enjoyed spending time with his family and volunteering at the FedEx St Jude Golf Tournament.
Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pam and their three children, Joy (Matt) Cowan of Germantown, TN, Ben (Melissa) Craig of Royse City, TX, and Tim (Melanie) Craig of Huntsville, AL and their nine grandchildren, Robby, Conner, Katelyn and Brody Cowan, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Hannah Craig, and Nick and Zach Craig, his sister, Sally (Mike) Woods of El Paso, TX, his sister-in-law, Julie Craig of Searcy, AR, and a large extended family. He was preceded by his parents and brother, Don Craig.
Celebration of Life Service will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home Monday, December 19, 2022 at 2 o'clock pm with a reception following.
Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or the National Dementia Society.
