Thomas "Corky" Thompson's Obituary
Thomas Courtney “Corky” Thompson was born on October 21, 1967, in Amarillo, Texas. He passed away after a short illness on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee.
He was the oldest child of the late Dr. Tommy C. Thompson and Linda Thompson. As a Navy brat he lived in Texas, New Jersey, California and Tennessee. As a child, Corky loved surfing, baseball, football, wrestling and hunting with his dad and brother, Scott.
He graduated from Briarcrest Baptist High School in 1985. He found joy in learning. Thus, he had four Bachelor Degrees in History, Psychology, Biology and Chemistry, plus a Masters Degree in Applied Linguistics from the University of Memphis. He taught English to ESL Spanish students while attending Law School.
Corky found refuge in writing and in books (especially History and Linguistics). He knew a little bit about everything and could recall it with ease.
He is survived by his four children, his mother Linda Thompson, his five brothers and sisters (Scott, Heather, Gretchen, Chase and Lily), two sisters-in-laws, (Shelton and Jody), four nieces and nephews (Jake, Greer, Lark and Maddie) and a big extended family.
Safe travels home, my dear child.
