Dr. Thomas Bowman Bechtel's Obituary
Dr. Thomas B. Bechtel, 70, passed away July 25, 2010. Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was an only child of Charles C. and Kathryn W. Bechtel. He received a bachelor’s in political science from Colorado State University and was a three time All American swimmer at the University of Michigan. He received a master’s in education from the University of Memphis and a doctorate in education with a specialty in industrial arts from the University of Tennessee. He leaves his wife, Judy; children, Charles T. Bechtel and Kathryn B. Fox; daughter-in-law, Annie Bechtel; and son-in-law, Matthew Fox; grandchildren, Catherine & Brooke Bechtel and Jacob & Rachel Fox. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church where he loved greeting people. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and the antique business. There will be a memorial service at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 29 at Second Presbyterian Church in the chapel. Visitation will follow the service in the Salmon Room at the church. There will be a private burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
