Thomas Albin's Obituary
Thomas Edward Albin, 85, of Memphis, Tennessee died May 19, 2014 following a long illness. Tom was the son of Edward Robert Albin and Louise Mothershed Albin. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Wilson Albin; a sister, Margarette Albin DePriest; and nephew, Bill DePriest. He leaves behind his three daughters: Marcia Albin Brown (Dave), Lisa Albin Felts (Tom), and Kathy Albin DeFreece (Tom); his six grand children: Thomas Albin Felts, Christopher Miles Felts, Garrett Wilson Felts, Kaleigh Ann DeFreece, Kelsey Elizabeth DeFreece, and Connor Thomas DeFreece; a sister, Carolyn Mason; nephews, Bob DePriest and Dennis Mason; several great nieces and nephews; and a long time companion, Patsy Halle.Tom was a graduate of Whitehaven High School and Georgia Tech University. He was a distinguished architect and the owner of Tom Albin, Architect and Associates. Throughout his career, Tom received several awards for his architectural designs around Memphis and the surrounding areas. He was past president of A.I.A. (American Institute of Architects), a member of Memphis Home Builders Association, and The Optimist Club. Tom was a decorated Korean War Veteran. He was a longtime member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Tom was a devoted father and grandfather. He will always be remembered for his witty sense of humor, quiet disposition, unwavering optimism, and his love for family.Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. followed by graveside services at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 21 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, 901-767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”.
