I was shocked to hear about Thad last night. I have great memories of us working together during our senior year in high school and hanging out talking about cars, motorcycles, and hackysacks. Not a night went by at Payless Shoe Source that wasn’t full of laughs… the job wasn’t so glamorous but Thad always made it fun. We connected again later in life through some strange coincidences but haven’t been in contact for a few years; he will be truly missed. My thoughts are with Paige and the rest of his family.Eric J. I worked very closely with Thad at General Motors. Thad was my Chairman, and we had difficult jobs that forced us to handle many delicate situations. I had and always will have a deep respect for Thad and and his father, Jeff. I always respected Thad for his ability to keep things in perspective and keep a positve mindset. I am so saddened to learn of Thad’s death. We went to Stone Mountain High School together and graduated in 1986. We had a lot of classes together and usually sat beside each other since we usually sat in alphabetical order. I have so many great memories of Thad. He was so much fun and we shared a lot of laughs. He never had a pen!! I must have given him dozens through the years. He called me Susan PENland for a reason. May God give you comfort and peace during this difficult time. Susan Penland Jones

Thad was my shop chairman at the Memphis plant when I transferred from WV. He was such a friendly and good person to know. We were all so sad when he left to go to Ohio but then he came back with Heidi and we were happy to have him back with us. Always said hello and asked how you were and Heidi is just a sweetheart of a person. My thoughts and prayers are with you Heidi and your family as well as Thad’s. I just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and to share a memory of Thad. He will be missed.
