Ms. Tempe Walker James' Obituary
Tempe Walker James born July 14, 1964, died September 1, 2011. She was the daughter of Tempe Chancellor (Jimmy) and the late Floyd O. James, Jr. Tempe is survived by her two sons, Jesse A. Lawrence, IV and James Cooper Lawrence, brother Floyd O. James, III, aunt Patricia Watson (Richard), uncle Richard Walker (Carolyn), aunt Peggy Carrington Jones (Bill), aunt Eugenia “Foxy” Walker, wife of the late Harold Walker, Jr., and a multitude of cousins. Tempe attended Hutchinson School in Memphis before graduating from St. Mary’s in Raleigh, NC. After high school Tempe acquired a great love of travel while attending a year in an immersion program in Mexico. She attended the University of South Alabama and was a member of Chi Omega there. In 1985 Tempe returned to Germantown to serve her community as the Germantown Charity Horse Show Queen. Tempe’s love for travel and adventure led her to a career as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines, and was based all across the country. After leaving Delta and returning to Germantown, Tempe followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a member of Suburban Garden Club. Tempe will be memorialized on Sunday September 4, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Germantown United Methodist Church, where she had been baptized and married. Family will meet guests starting at 2 p.m. in the parlor at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Mid South Chapter of the MS Society, 214 Overlook Circle, Suite 153 Brentwood, TN 37027.
