Sylvia C. McSwain's Obituary
SYLVIA C. McSWAIN left this earth and went to Heaven to be with GOD and her personal LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST, on May 8, 2024.
Sylvia was born in Memphis, TN on January 16, 1941.
She is preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Mildred Carlisle of Memphis, her siblings Pat Roberts, Ronnie Carlisle, Linda Foster, and her oldest son Randy McSwain.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Ron McSwain, her brother Larry Carlisle, her youngest sister Judy Saunders, her son and daughter-in-law, Scott (Traci) McSwain, her beloved grandchildren – Carter Anderson, Jack McSwain, Luke McSwain, and great grandson Ryan White. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
In Sylvia’s early years, she was an active business professional as a Stylist, a Computer Operator at Pillsbury Corporation and later, worked as a Tennessee Licensed Real Estate Agent for Germantown Realty. While Sylvia was successful in the business world, she never lost sight of her calling by GOD to excel as a Wife, Mother, Mimi, and Homemaker; these roles she truly excelled in!
Sylvia’s real passion in life was her Personal Relationship with her LORD and her SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST! She devoted many hours studying GOD’S WORD, applying GOD’S commands to every aspect of her diverse roles and activities in life - which she did! She maintained so many close friendships throughout her life and loved to organize and participate in weekly game days with food and fellowship with friends and family. An elegant and sweet lady, but she suffered no fools, and you always knew where you stood with Mimi! She loved participating and serving in her and Ron’s Adult Sunday School Class and the Women’s Ministry at Germantown Baptist Church. Sylvia was an active participant in Evangelism Outreach at Brinkley Heights Baptist Church.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 15 at 12:30 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. all in the Riverside Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
